Student Life Disability Services (SLDS) is transitioning to AIM 5! Sign-ups for our Overview Webinars now open!
AIM 5, with its enhanced functionalities aimed at improving communication and accessibility, is scheduled to go live on December 20, 2024. To ease your transition navigating the updated system, SLDS will be hosting live webinars to provide an overview of the procedural and student experience changes from AIM 4 to AIM 5. During these information sessions, students will receive guidance on the processes of sending course accessibility letters and requesting academic accommodations, including Exam Accommodations, Interpreting/Transcribing, Peer Notetaking, and Intermittent Flex Plans in the updated AIM 5 system. We encourage all registered students to attend one of our Overview Webinar information sessions! You will find a list of the scheduled webinars below. Please click the link to your desired date and time to register!
If you require an accommodation to fully participate in this webinar, please contact delay.14@osu.edu to make your request.
If you are unable to attend any of the live virtual sessions or want a refresher after attending one, the SLDS website has a bank of AIM video tutorials to help you navigate AIM 5. As an additional resource, you can visit the Requesting Accommodations page to find detailed instructions for navigating AIM and requesting various accommodations.
New feature highlight: The Intermittent Flex Plan accommodation will be managed entirely in AIM. While This will make it easier for you to track the status of your requests and view your flex plans all in one place, it also brings significant procedural changes. We strongly encourage any students who receive this accommodation to attend one of these information sessions to see what is changing!
SLDS Exam Services is here to help! During the first two weeks of Spring ’25 semester, our Exam Services team will offer drop-in hours to assist students with scheduling their accommodated exams. Please drop-in as needed Monday-Friday January 6 to 17, 2025 from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM at 090 Baker Hall, 113 W. 12th Ave.
FACULTY AND INSTRUCTORS
Student Life Disability Services (SLDS) is transitioning to AIM 5! Sign-ups for our Overview Webinars now open.
Our AIM 5 information management system, with its enhanced functionalities aimed at improving communication and accessibility, is scheduled to go live on December 20, 2024. This is an exciting and significant advancement for our office as our AIM database plays a critical role in providing a centralized resource for managing student accommodations and is used by students, faculty, and SLDS staff. Users of the updated AIM 5 can expect revised interfaces for viewing student accommodations and for submitting testing agreements and testing materials. Along with this transition, the Intermittent Flex Plan accommodation will also be managed entirely in AIM! While this will make it easier for you to track and complete your students’ requests, view completed plans, and delegate responsibility for completing them all in one place, it also brings significant procedural changes.
To ease your transition in navigating the updated system, SLDS will be hosting live virtual webinars to provide an overview of the procedural and instructor experience changes. Please find links to register for the webinars below. We encourage all faculty and instructors to attend one of our Overview Webinars.
If you require an accommodation to fully participate in this webinar, please contact delay.14@osu.edu to make your request.
As an additional resource for those who are unable to attend any of the live virtual sessions or want a refresher after attending one of our webinars, the SLDS website has a bank of AIM video tutorials to help you navigate AIM 5. Also, step by step instructions for Managing Accommodation Requests can be found on our website.
New feature highlight: Intermittent Flex Plan accommodations will be managed solely in AIM 5! After an instructor fills out the flex plan, it will go directly to the student’s portal to view. Please be aware that this is a massive procedural change and we will be reviewing the specifics during the Overview Webinars.
New feature highlight: Instructors will be able to assign another instructor, TA, or Course Coordinator to a class in AIM 5! From your dashboard, navigate to the Home tab on the left side of your screen and click on “Add Instructor.” From here, you can select the course you want to assign, indicate if you want to add them to the course in AIM or replace all other assigned instructors with the one you are about to add. Once all the additional user information is entered, click on the “Add Instructor” button to make these changes. These additions will be sent to our office for approval and should be finalized in the system.
We kindly ask that you share this information with all faculty members or others who may use AIM within your department. Thank you for your assistance in disseminating this essential information!
