Academic Accommodations

Students with temporary conditions (such as broken bones, concussions, or surgery recovery) may receive short-term accommodations. To apply, complete and submit an SLDS Application. 

Note: SLDS does not provide temporary academic accommodations for short-term illnesses such as the flu, mononucleosis, or COVID-19. Students should work directly with their instructors to request support while they are ill. If you need help communicating with instructors, please contact Student Advocacy. Students with Long COVID may qualify for permanent accommodations and should follow that registration process. 

Upload documentation confirming your injury (e.g., doctor’s visit summary). If you are encountering barriers securing documentation, call our office and request a drop-in consultation. Once all application materials are provided, SLDS reviews your application.

Within a few business days, you will receive an email with instructions to schedule a Welcome Meeting. Meetings are held by phone or on Zoom by default; in-person meetings are available upon request.
