Accommodations for Orientation
Students and/or family members who need disability-related accommodations (e.g. paratransit services, dietary needs, interpreting/transcribing, etc.) during orientation should contact Orientation or visist go.osu.edu/orientationdisabilityrequest to fill out the Disability Request Form at least two week in advance.
Orientation accommodations point-of-conact: Jenny Osborn (Osborn.email@example.com / 614-292-3324).
Placement Test Accommodations
Incoming Ohio State students may take placement tests for English, foreign language and mathematics courses. Students with disabilities are entitled to receive reasonable accommodations for these placement tests. Students wanting placement exam accommodations should complete the following steps:
- Begin by following our registration process.
- Once the student has received the "Schedule Your Welcome Meeting" email (sent to their Buckeyemail account), please contact SLDS and ask to speak with Michelle Salomone about setting up placement test accommodations. You can also schedule your Welcome Meeting with an Access Specialist at this time.
Note that students will still need to complete their Welcome Meeting with an Access Specialist in order to receive any future academic accommodations at Ohio State. Students are not considered fully registered with the office until after completing their Welcome Meeting.
Disability Services Visits
Students and their families are welcome to visit Disability Services during orientation. The orientation schedule allots time on the second day, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m, as a suggested time for a drop-in appointment.Students and their families are also welcome to call or visit us anytime during business hours.
During your visit, you can meet with an Access Specialist to discuss any questions or concerns you may have, as well as receive a tour of the office.
Welcome Meetings After Orientation
Students can schedule their Welcome Meeting during the afternoon of the second day of orientation. Students must have followed the Registration Process and already received their accommodation approval email in order to schedule their Welcome Meeting. Unlike shorter drop-in visits (as described above), Welcome Meetings must be scheduled in advance.
Welcome Meetings do not have to occur during orientation. We encourage incoming students to schedule their Welcome Meetings for the summer (either in-person or over-the-phone) or for the beginning of their first semester.
