Orientation and Placement Test Accommodations
Accommodations for Orientation
Students and/or family members who need disability-related accommodations (e.g. paratransit services, dietary needs, interpreting/transcribing, etc.) during orientation should contact Jenny Osborn (Osborn.email@example.com / 614-292-3324).
Placement Test Accommodations
Incoming OSU students may take placement tests for English, foreign language, and mathematics courses. Students with disabilities are entitled to receive reasonable accommodations for these placement tests. Students wanting placement exam accommodations should complete the following steps:
- Submit documentation to our office, following our Documentation Guidelines.
- You will receive an email to your OSU inbox indicating that you have been approved for accommodations.
- Once you’ve received the email, contact the office and ask to speak with an Access Specialist about setting up placement test accommodations. You can also schedule your Welcome Meeting at this time.
Note that students will still need to complete their Welcome Meeting with their assigned Access Specialist in order to receive any future academic accommodations at OSU. Students are not considered fully registered with the office until completing their Welcome Meeting.
Disability Services Visits
Students and their families are welcome to visit Disability Services during orientation. The orientation schedule allots time on the second day, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m, as a suggested time for a walk-in appointment.Students and their families are also welcome to call or visit us anytime during business hours.
During your visit, you can meet with an Access Specialist to discuss any questions or concerns you may have, as well as receive a tour of the office.
Welcome Meetings After Orientation
Students can schedule their Welcome Meeting during the afternoon of the second day of orientation. Students must have followed the Registration Process and already received their accommodation approval email in order to schedule their Welcome Meeting. Unlike shorter walk-in visits (as described above), Welcome Meetings must be scheduled in advance.
Welcome Meetings do not have to occur during orientation. We encourage incoming students to schedule their Welcome Meetings for during the summer (either in-person or over-the-phone) or during the beginning of their first semester.
